When I Shared The Car Ride With The Cheetah

It was a beautiful afternoon in Maasai Mara National Reserve. We started our safari ride in the morning hoping that we will see more animals today. As you all know that Kenya is home to Big Five i.e lion, buffalo, rhino, leopard and elephant.

We finally spotted one cheetah in the bushes and we told our driver to stop the car. He was beautiful looking and i was like aaawwww i want to get little closer to him. The driver warned us that we can’t get out of the car. Then he stretched and started walking forward slowly and sprung upon the jeep. All 6 of us were so terrified that we were screamed on top of our lungs. Gilbert Kipchumba, who was leading our group during our Kenya trip whispered, “Keep calm, he is just looking for Gazelle. He won’t harm us.”

In no time our jeep was surrounded by numerous other cars. They were taking pictures, making videos and laughing on our situation. :-p The cheetah stayed on our jeep for more than 45 minutes. He was least bothered that he was surrounded by so many humans, his eyes were just on his target. I could see his tail hanging inside my open jeep safari. After sometime i wanted to pull his shiny tail or just touch it. (I know, i know i couldn’t do that. But then we all can fantasize… 😉 ) After more than 45 minutes our driver started the jeep and moved it a little ahead. The animal jumped from the jeep and glanced at us. I think he must be saying: hope you enjoyed it kiddos.
